Messages — Credits

Message credits power all of dAio's outbound communications: SMS and WhatsApp messages sent to your teams, as well as the artificial intelligence features (enriched alerts, recommendations, report narration, AI chat). Each plan includes a monthly quota, which you top up on demand with à la carte purchases, with no commitment.

Understanding how these credits are consumed and replenished lets you keep your communications flowing smoothly — with no nasty surprises at the worst possible moment, when a critical alert needs to go out.

Message credits and coverage

Tip: the counter at the top of the Messages page permanently displays your remaining SMS, WhatsApp, and AI credits. Keep an eye on it before a mass-send campaign.

The three types of credits

dAio distinguishes three independent counters. Running out of one does not affect the others.

Quotas included in your plan

Every month, your plan automatically recharges a quota of credits. These credits reset at each billing cycle: they do not carry over from one month to the next.

Warning: an unused monthly quota is lost at renewal. There is therefore no point in "setting aside" your plan credits — only credits purchased on top of your plan are carried over.

Credits purchased on top of your plan

When the plan quota is not enough, you buy credit bundles à la carte. Unlike plan credits, these credits are not tied to the monthly cycle: they remain available until fully used up, even several months later.

dAio draws first from the plan quota, then from purchased credits. This way you get the most out of your subscription before dipping into your reserves.

Buying a bundle

  1. Open the Messages page, then the Credits tab.
  2. Locate the Available credits counter: for each type, it details the plan balance (remaining / limit) and the purchased credits.
  3. Choose the bundle you want in the SMS, WhatsApp, or AI section.
  4. Confirm the quantity and price in the confirmation window.
  5. You are redirected to secure payment. Once paid, the credits are added immediately to your balance.

Tip: bundle prices are shown excluding tax (excl. VAT). The unit price decreases as volume increases — group your purchases to optimize cost.

SMS coverage by country

SMS is available in 180+ countries, but the cost in credits varies depending on the destination. The Coverage tab on the Messages page lists the covered and excluded countries, along with the update date.

  • Europe, North America: 1 credit / SMS
  • Middle East, Asia: 1 to 2 credits / SMS
  • Africa: 1 to 3 credits / SMS

dAio automatically checks the coverage of your members. If some numbers are located in an uncovered country, a warning appears in the Credits tab:

  • If no member has a number reachable by SMS, the purchase of SMS bundles is disabled until coverage becomes possible.
  • If only some members are out of coverage, dAio names them so you can reach them through another channel.

Warning: a member whose number is in an excluded country will never receive your SMS, even with credits available. Check the Coverage list before relying on the SMS channel for an international team.

Tip: favor WhatsApp for destinations where SMS is expensive or uncovered. Its pricing is uniform worldwide and its coverage almost universal.

Tracking consumption

Each send from the Send tab indicates, before confirmation, the number of SMS and WhatsApp messages that will be consumed based on the selected channels and recipients. The message history then specifies, for each send, the number of messages delivered and failed per channel.

Tip: an SMS or a WhatsApp message is billed per recipient and per channel. A message sent to 30 members over SMS + WhatsApp consumes 30 SMS credits and 30 WhatsApp credits.

Best practices

  • Watch the counter at the top of the page before any mass send: anticipate rather than running out in the middle of an alert.
  • Reserve SMS for emergencies: they are reliable and immediate, but more expensive. For everything else, favor push or email, which are free.
  • Switch to WhatsApp internationally: universal coverage and a single rate, where SMS becomes expensive or unavailable.
  • Buy in large bundles if you communicate regularly: the unit price drops and purchased credits do not expire.
  • Check the coverage of your members before an SMS campaign, to avoid silent failures.
  • Don't rely on plan quota carryover: only purchased credits carry over from one month to the next.

Tip: to structurally reduce your AI credit consumption, fine-tune your alerts so that enriched analysis is triggered only on the events that really matter.
