Glossary
All the technical, regulatory and business terms you will encounter in dAio Business, gathered in one place. Standardised acronyms are preserved (CO₂e, CSRD, GHG Protocol), definitions are intentionally concise. Links lead to the detailed guide for each topic.
Alert — Notification triggered when a weather or environmental condition crosses a defined threshold on one of your sites. See Alerts.
API (Application Programming Interface) — Interface that allows external applications to communicate with dAio Business and exchange data in an automated way.
API key — Secret identifier that authenticates your calls to the API. Keep it confidential and revoke it immediately if compromised. See API Keys.
AQI (Air Quality Index) — Standardised air quality index ranging from 0 (excellent) to 500 (hazardous), combining several pollutants (PM2.5, PM10, O₃, NO₂, SO₂, CO).
BEGES (Bilan d'Émissions de Gaz à Effet de Serre) — Mandatory French regulatory carbon assessment for companies with more than 500 employees and local authorities with more than 50,000 inhabitants.
CO₂e (CO₂ equivalent) — Unit expressing the climate impact of each greenhouse gas in carbon dioxide equivalent, enabling comparison on a common scale.
Cooldown — Minimum delay enforced between two notifications from the same alert, to prevent repetitive sends.
CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) — European directive requiring companies to produce standardised sustainability reports, including GHG emissions.
DEFRA — Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (United Kingdom), publisher of emission factors used internationally.
Emission Factor — Coefficient that converts an activity (litres of diesel, kWh of electricity) into the equivalent quantity of CO₂ emitted. See Calculations.
GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) — European regulation governing the processing of personal data; dAio Business is fully compliant.
GHG (greenhouse gases) — Gases that contribute to global warming: CO₂, methane (CH₄), nitrous oxide (N₂O), fluorinated gases.
GHG Protocol (Greenhouse Gas Protocol) — International standard for accounting and reporting greenhouse gas emissions; it defines Scopes 1, 2 and 3.
HMAC-SHA256 — Cryptographic signature algorithm that authenticates webhooks and guarantees that data originates from dAio Business.
Hotspot — Emission source identified as the most significant in your carbon footprint.
Intelligence — dAio's weather and environmental analysis layer: forecasts, risk scores and recommendations per site. See Intelligence.
ISO 14064 — International standard for quantifying, monitoring, reporting and verifying GHG emissions.
JWT (JSON Web Token) — Authentication token standard securing exchanges between client and server. See Security.
KPI (Key Performance Indicator) — Key performance indicator; in dAio Business: number of sites, members, active alerts, etc.
LLM (Large Language Model) — Artificial intelligence model powering AI features: chat, AI alerts, recommendations and report narration.
Member — User attached to your organisation, assigned a role and a site scope. See Team.
MOCCAE — Ministry of Climate Change and Environment of the United Arab Emirates; regulatory framework for emission declarations in the UAE.
Plan — Subscription tier (Solo, Team, Enterprise) that determines your quotas and features. See Subscription.
PM2.5 / PM10 — Airborne particulate matter. PM2.5: diameter below 2.5 microns (most hazardous); PM10: diameter below 10 microns.
Quota — Limit associated with your plan: number of sites, members, credits or API calls allowed.
R2 — Cloudflare's object storage service used by dAio Business to durably store documents and reports. See Storage.
ROI (Return on Investment) — In dAio Business, measures the savings generated by weather intelligence relative to the subscription cost. See ROI.
Scope 1 — Direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by the organisation (fleet, generators, boilers). See Emissions.
Scope 2 — Indirect emissions associated with purchased energy (electricity, heat, steam).
Scope 3 — Indirect value chain emissions (supplier transport, business travel, purchases, waste). See Scope 3.
Seat — User licence in a Team or Enterprise plan; each active member occupies one seat. See Seats.
SEC Climate Disclosure — Rule of the Securities and Exchange Commission (United States) requiring listed companies to disclose their climate risks and emissions.
Site — Monitored physical location (construction site, warehouse, farm, branch office), the foundation for forecasts, alerts and emissions. See Sites.
SLA (Service Level Agreement) — Service level agreement defining the response times guaranteed by support.
Snapshot — Frozen, immutable capture of your emissions at a given point in time, forming the basis of reports and history. See Reports.
TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) — Framework for reporting climate-related financial risks, recommended by the Financial Stability Board.
tCO₂e (tonne of CO₂ equivalent) — Standard unit for measuring GHG emissions; 1 tCO₂e = 1,000 kgCO₂e.
Webhook — HTTP notification mechanism by which dAio Business pushes data in real time to an external system when an event occurs. See Webhooks.
